These roles can provide significant job satisfaction through assisting children with disabilities attend school and achieve their full potential in life. Drivers may be supported by a Passenger Care Assistant if necessary.

Work will be based mainly around school start and finish times and is term-time only. We are looking for both drivers to drive one of our fleet vehicles, as well as self-employed drivers who wish to use their own vehicle.

This may suit those that have other flexible work commitments that can work around this role.

We have work available in Redhill, Reigate and the surrounding areas throughout Surrey and are also taking on Passenger Assistants in the same areas.

We are looking for staff to begin work as soon as all relevant checks and DBS clearance has been completed. A DBS check will be conducted by Surrey County Council and paid for by Courtesy Cars Redhill, and full training will be provided to successful applicants.

Atleats 3 years driving experience is essential.

Job description

We are a local business based in Redhill, providing home to school transport for children with Special Educational Needs (SEN). We are looking for passenger assistants to work Monday to Friday, mornings and afternoons in conjunction with school start and finish times. This rewarding role is accompanying children and young adults with a range of Special Educational Needs to and from school.

As a Passenger Assistant, you will be responsible for ensuring the safety, comfort, and well-being of children with Special Educational Needs during home to school transport. You will work in close coordination with the driver and other team members to provide a reliable and timely transport service to the children.

Responsibilities:

• Assist children in getting on and off the vehicle safely and securely

• Assist children in securing seat belts, wheelchairs, and other equipment as required

• Provide assistance for children with mobility difficulties and those with communication and behavioural needs

• Monitor children during the journey to ensure their safety and comfort

• Provide first aid assistance and administer medication as required and trained

• Communicate and coordinate with parents, schools, and other authorities regarding any issues that arise

• Report any concerns or incidents to the management team

Requirements:

• Experience in working with children, particularly those with disabilities

• Knowledge of safety and emergency protocols

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

• First aid and medication administration training preferable

Work Schedule:

Typically, the working hours will be during the mornings and/or afternoons, corresponding to the home to school journeys. You will need to be available between 7.00am - 9.45am and 2.30pm-5.00pm.

The Passenger Assistant plays a critical role in ensuring disabled children can access education, socialisation, and healthcare services. If you are passionate about working with children and making a difference in their lives, this might be the right job for you.

Looking for drivers and passenger assistants in local areas: Epsom/Redhill/Reigate/Horley/Banstead

Working closely with your driver, you will be liaising between parents and schools to ensure the safety and wellbeing of the children in your care whilst enroute from and to school. Passenger Assistants are collected from home and dropped back home after.

The role is term time based. DBS checks will be required as part of the application process - paid for by Courtesy Cars Redhill, and full training will be given to successful candidates.

Any previous experience is advantageous, but not necessary.
